Selling my HE-5 to fund the purchase of HE5LE, just because I'm too curious not to try them. I am the second owner - I originally purchased them from tvrboy. I rate them a conservative 7.5/10, due to repairs I had to make to one of the earpads. It was nothing major, I just glued down part of the felt which had detached itself from the hard plastic back. Other than that I have had no issues whatsoever, and they are in pristine condition cosmetically and functionally. I have loved the heck out of these headphones since the day I got them, and I hope whoever they move on to will do the same!

Just my 2c: I also had to try the HE5-LE, but after a month I sold the HE5-LE and kept the HE-5's. With a good tube amp/speaker terminals I preferred the dynamics of the HE-5 to the more laid back HE5-LE. I think with cheaper  sources/amps, the HE5-LE is probably more forgiving. (Fang agreed with me @ RMAF). YMMV.

 

The HE-6 is obviously the winner - but at twice the price. ;-)

Thanks for the advice. A couple of my issues with the HE5 seem to be fixed with the HE5LE, so I really hope I like them. I often prefer a slightly more laidback sounding headphone, at least for long listening periods, although of course this is not the case for a lot of people. Anyhow, Headroom has that unconditional 30-day return period so I figure if I don't like them I can always try something else :) *Sigh*, if only I could afford the HE6...
