Eliminating computer intereference sound

Thread Starter

Hi,

Does anybody have any thoughts on adding a Musiland Monitor 02 US to my PC, before a HR microDAC and matrix M-stage to Sennheiser HD650? I currently get a lot of electronic interference at high volumes (my DAC is connected via USB to my PC), does anybody know if this will be fixed?

Thanks in advance

Does it go away when you unplug the USB cable? Tried an ADuM4160 USB isolation dongle?

I have similar problems, which I believe are called ground loop, when I have my computer to dac to receiver.

Unplug the laptop and it goes.

I'd also like to find a better long term solution if there is one.

how do you guys go about the fan noise of the laptop?

it is quite audible for me and it demolishes any hardcore SNR engineering feats in audio devices!!

how do people usually listen to their music? I guess all computers have ambient noise. how about CD players?

are CD players noisy?

I just tried the setup again and there is not a single decibel of noise, so I don't know what is going on right now!

It's a grounding problem.  If a USB device isn't properly grounded, a static charge can build up.  The only solution is to unplug it and then plug it back in.
