Showed my mom a picture of the LCD-2 Rosewoods and she thought they looked cheap.

;~;

When I finally decide to get a pair of them I'm sure they'll change her mind once they're on her ears.

Apparently my description of "luxurious" does not match what she had in her head.

You... I don't like you.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Of course, that's totally just your opinion (and while it might be bad) you are completely entitled to it.

:D

It might take some conditioning, but eventually she will appreciate how fine a good Woodie looks.

Question to ask people to know if you're wasting your time before letting them try your headphones:

1. Do you have Beats?

2. If not, would they be your choice if you could afford them?

3. Do you think Beats are the best?

4. Do you like Eminem?

5. Do you like Tupac?

6. Do you learn about new music from the radio or MTV?

7. Do you listen to rap every day?

8. Do you listen to funk every day?

9. Do you love dem hoes?

I'm just going to roll my eyes at this and move on.

It might take some conditioning, but eventually she will appreciate how fine a good Woodie looks.

You'll simply have to buy that pair and show it in person to prove her wrong... But not only that since you'll have to give it away as a mother's day gift to show that even if she's wrong... you still love her very much.

So, on the topic of rosewood, is there a difference in sound between the rosewood and the bamboo versions?

So what does she consider "luxurious"? I don't think the LCD2 and HiFiman range are too pretty, they look rather...DIY? The D7000, ATH-W5000, Ultrasone Ed 8, are stunning. The entire Fidelio series, Pioneer SE-L40, Pioneer SE-700, K240 Sextett are really pretty. The Koda^2 was a stunner as well.

Yes, that was intentional.

Either that or I've too much Freud on the mind.

She quite liked the higher end Denon and Fostex models I showed her. She prefers the metal/metallic look over wood/plastic, although if pressed she'd pick plastic over wood as well. Oddly, she really liked the HE-400s when I had them and I'd imagine the same applies to the HE-500s I'm getting.

They do look cheap on pics. And that outside grille design looks like.... I can't even call it design, looks like an afterthought gone very wrong.

They are very sturdy in your hands. Albeit, way too heavy.

Earwax doesn't carry disease that I know of. I'm guessing you've never lived with a small child... they aren't the most hygienic but they seem to live on despite it.
