Grado SR325is - Recable or extension cable?

Thread Starter

The cable of my Grado SR325is is too short for my needs. I've soldered guitar and microphone cables myself with success, so I probably could make a extension cable without problems. The following two plugs, but I'm not sure what good cables for headphones are.

1) Can someone recommend me a good cable? Would be nice if I could order it with the Neutrik plugs with not too much shipping costs within Europe (Netherlands).

2) And how about recabling the whole headphones? Is it without two much risk of damaging something? And how about the reselling value of the headphones?

The second option would be better of course if there is not much risk and the headphones don't drop in value significantly.

Thanks a lot!

For diy, any decent quality microphone cable will do the job for me.

Or, buy a headphone extension cable ready-made.

I have Grados and I use them with/without my diy extension cable and can't hear any difference.

There are lots of higher priced cable alternatives, no doubt.

Rewiring the Grados (doing any mods to them, IMO) will lower the resale value drastically, I think. Unless the twin cords bother you (they do me) I wouldn't mess with the wiring.
