Rush - Time Machine Tour 2011

I noticed a lot of Rush love here on head-fi, a very positive thing!

After their 2010 Time Machine Tour, they're continuing this in 2011, starting with USA/Can in March/April, after that finally it's Europe's turn again to have these 3 amazing guys on our continent again. There was a time that Rush didn't want to come overseas, very fortunately, that time has passed, I'm going to see them for the third time now in the Netherlands and I'm very gratefull for that.

Any of the head-fiers going to one of these tour dates? Any of you've been to the 2010 Time Machine Tour. I read they perform(ed) Moving Pictures entirely!

Please share your experiences with this tour and/or your anticipation to the 2011 tour.

I'll be at the Chicago show in April.  Have seen them 28 times going back to 1975 with the "Caress of Steel" Tour and have never looked back.  Being from Toronto they were always touring in the Midwest and it was comonly a $10 ticket with Cheap Trick or Kansas as a "back-up" band.  Many fond memories....

 

2112, Hemispheres and Moving Pictures are the best!!

Newer generation Rush fan here, the first I listened to was A Show of Hands, then Counterparts and then Test for Echo came out.

But I know all of their records offcourse now, 2112 and Moving Pictures are favorits offcourse, also Signals. Counterparts will always be one of my all time rock favorits, the way Neil drums on that record...

Going to see them for the 3rd time, I grew up with the knowledge Rush don't come overseas to Europe, and here I am, saw them 2 times, was in the standing crowd when they recorded the Snakes and Arrows live concert, and will be there when they do Moving Pictures.

Fond memories, I can imagine that.

But it's true, in general concert tickets (and soccer tickets also) get higher and higher every year

I did see them here in their hometown this summer performing Moving Pictures and it was incredible!

Because they had very few "top 40" hits which is a great thing IMHO.  All of their releasee slid under the radar.  Every one of them.  never any fanfare.  They were a cult following through the first 1/2 of their career and then built a large fan base off heresay and reputation but they were never a very "commercial" band which basically shuts you out of the RR hall of fame.  Commericialism of music is usually a bad thing.
 

I can agree with commericalization is a bad thing for music, but the facts are:

 

24 Gold Albums

14 Platinum Albums

3 Multi-Platinum Albums

Over 40 million albums sold worldwide

 

This places them in the top 3 of consecutive  gold albums by a rock band.

 

This says plenty, that they have real fans!

You guys have to see 'Beyond the Lighted Stage' , Rush' docu movie that came out lately. It's pretty remarkable, in the old days the radio stations whiped the floor with Rush, they just didn't want to play their songs. The last few years all of a sudden it's cool to listen to Rush.

These guys have always done their thing, in their own way, that never changed.
