Best way you clean dust from amps?

Anyone know what is the proper way to clean amps, tube sockets and DACs.  I'm talking about dust specifically.  Is a compressed air can with nozzle recommended?

I use a brush. It's a cheap one from Home Depot (something like 16¢) and I used scissors to cut down the bristles to make it stiffer. It does a great job of cleaning out sockets and everything else. If you want to spend a little more, you can buy a synthetic artist's brush for $5-$15 and do the same.

I find brushes to do a better job of working into nooks and corners.

I don't know about using compressed air for cleaning audio purposes, it's usually known for leaving some kind of residue behind (proof: spray it on your hand for a little bit, then lick your hand... gross). Since you want to clean sockets I'd imagine leaving residue is not the best idea.

I've never had a problem with compressed air but a good alternative is an air dust blower.  It's very popular with photographers and jewelers.

U.E. and Batphink put together equals my method.

I use a hog-hair detailing brush left over from my car audio competition days, something like this:

It is reasonably inexpensive, and the stiff bristle gets in to the crevices really well. The benefit of a natural bristle like hog-hair is that it has a thin tip section for getting into small places, while the thicker body of the hair keeps the brush in shape, allowing you to apply some pressure to brush out some of the really stubborn dust particles.

Instead of compressed air out of a can, I use an air bulb that photography guys like to use. Behold the rocket:

For cleaning the outside of electronics gear where some kind of a liquid solution is needed, I buy the Costco Kirkland brand eye-glass care kit. The solution cleans well, does not leave a residue behind, and refills are free for life at Costco:

Lastly, for use with the Costco cleaning solution, I use microfiber towels that they sell for cleaning cars. These are nice and large so it's easier to use than the small ones made for electronics and photography.

Anyway, that's what I use.
