Currently I am on the verge of upgrading from my TV's speakers, if I am going to I will need to have a reciever to power the speakers

If you would head-fi please recommend me a basic reciever for around the $100-$300 price range.

Thanks,

I would'nt recommend a basic anything as you will be upgrading in 3 months. Look as something in the $500 range.

Seems to be the sweet spot currently.

The pioneer 1120 - http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-VSX-1120-K-Home-Theater-Receiver/dp/B0039XQQXA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1291537602&sr=8-1 seems to be pretty popular these days with 3D support, good features, a good DAC chip and decent power, if u r not using outboard amps.

Also remember, put the most $$ on the speakers... seem to make the most difference in the end sound other than the sub in a HT setup
All the Best!

I don't need 3D support, only HD. The Pioneer's look like they are of mixed reviews. I think I will go with this one:http://www.amazon.com/Denon-AVR1610-5-1-Channel-Receiver-Connectivity/dp/B002AKKF3U?pf_rd_mnb=ATVPDKIKX0D34&pf_rd_stb=center-2&pf_rd_rat=0817NMRY4ZRQZM6P18TH&pf_rd_t3r=101&pf_rd_ptd=470938631&pf_rd_ied=507846&tag=buaazs-20&pf_rd_ptd=470938631&pf_rd_ied=507846
