As I posted in the headphone forum, I'm looking to tailor my system for music production--mixing and some recording. I currently have an iMac running into an old Marantz 2270 which has two EPOS speakers attached. I originally thought upgrading my Sennheiser HD280pros to the AKG K240DFs would be the way to go, but upon further research it seems as though a headphone amp or DAC or some combo unit might be the better route.
Any advice? I've got about $250 to spend on any new item or upgrade.

edit: I'm actually looking at the Nuforce HDP Icon. Though it's a lot more than I'm willing to spend it seems like a great unit. Is it worth going that much further? Also, would it be adequate for AKG K240DFs?
