Hi guys, I want to make a DIY cable for my triplefi's. Where can i get all the materials from? (3.5mm jack, cable and so) And is there anything else i need to know besides soldering? Thanks ahead, Liran.

Have you think about the 2 pins connector on the earpieces?

Isn't there a place to get this?

I don't know any place that sell the two pins connector alone. However, a quick search on eBay has turned up a lot of custom cable for UE and they are not that expensive (<$50 in general).

VGA cables pins will work but they expand the copper plate so once you use them, don't go back to the stock cable.

I have ordered 2 pin connectors successfully from:

http://www.discovery-global.com/ProductView.asp?ID=123&SortID=174

Pricing was $8 per pair shipped, just shoot them an email.

reod, thank you for the link.I saw they have this cable: http://www.discovery-global.com/ProductView.asp?ID=128&SortID=168

Any chance it's a good one? It costs around 24$.

Anyway, lets say I buy these pins. where i can get a good cable and a 3.5mm jack from?

I can't comment on the quality of their cables as I haven't tried them. The only cable I have tried for iems are double helix nucleotide and though they sound good, they are a little thicker than I would like for an iem cable and didn't exactly fit into those 2-pin connectors.

For 3.5mm I've only used neutrik which you can get from markertek and many other places. If I were making another cable though, I'd probably get a paliccs or viablue plug as I think they look nicer. The discovery global place might sell the paliccs plugs (looks like they use it in some of their cables). You can get Viablues at av-outlet. I'm not sure whether these other places will ship internationally however.

As you can see though, getting these components can add up with shipping. If you're worried about cost, you might want to consider going with the premade cable you saw or from ebay as mentioned above.

This is probably your best bet. Check out this thread for more information:

If you want a Viablue connection, check out this store:

http://www.null-audio.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=69&products_id=211

It costs ~$10 plus shipping. This store also sells some decent cables for the TF10, there are reviews.

Lastly, for a cable for DIY, I would try Mogami. Keep in mind you will probably need 20-25 feet of cable.

Why Mogami?

Why not Mogami?

Mogami is a pretty good choice because it is easy to find, it is durable, and it is not that expensive. If you want to go whole hog (and you believe in cryo and stuff), check out Jena Labs. They sell cables, but it would cost the OP ~$100 to get everything together.

Unless you strip off the sleeving/shield of the Mogami (I don't know that you can get the bare wires as is), the cable is going to be pretty heavy for iem use. Even if you do strip off the sleeving, I'm not sure the insulation on the inner wires will hold up (on the 2893 anyway - in my experience, I can't say it inspires too much confidence) or how microphonic the wire will be.

I don't know much about cables but I keep hearing people mentioning Mogami so was curious about it.
