too much solder causing jumbled sound?

working on this recable for a friend and its using a quad cable grounded at the mini plug, after soldering i get weird jumbled sound.  Could too much solder be the problem, or is the cable just bad?

Check for continuity between the right, left, and ground contacts.  There should not be continuity between them (an electrical path) if it's a standalone cable.  If it's a hardwired cable, all the contacts will have continuity as right and left channels technically connect through the shared ground.  I would remove the plug and re-identify the wires.

As above. Also, an improper solder can cause a situation where the metals do not merge properly (a common problem with insufficient heat or where someone has heated the solder directly rather than the wire being soldered). Check for bubbling at the connection points.
