FS: Upgraded Hifiman EF5 (Mullard long plate tube and AD797BR opamps)
Will Ship To: Anywhere
I'm changing up my audio system so I'm selling a bunch of my gear, for sale here is my Hifiman EF5 headphone amplifier, perfect for use with any headphones demanding high current especially low impedance headphones.
I'm asking $250 shipped CONUS which also includes paypal fees etc. This includes the amplifier, power supply, a power cable, a Mullard "long plate" 12AU7 tube, dual AD797BR opamps, the stock OP275 opamp, and the stock tube. The mullard tubes cost about $25-30 a piece, and the well reviewed AD797BR http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/397691/audio-gd-discrete-op-amps-reviewed-opa-earth-opa-moon-opa-sun-v-2 fetches as much as $45 from companies such as Cimarron technology. Compare this price to over $400 for the EF5 new, or $300 when combo'd with the HE6 headphones. This is the perfect companion for your low impedance or orthodynamic headphones.
The combination of the AD797BR and Mullard tube will allow you to enjoy the amplifier to its full potential right after you get it -- no need to hassle with upgrading it yourself or not knowing what to buy.
The amp itself is in great condition, the plexiglass on top has some minor scratches on it that can't be seen unless inspecting, but is otherwise pretty flawless. I don't have the tube guard on it right now since it annoyed me, and if you want that it will probably add a couple days to the shipping time for me to get the tube guard.
I will be selling my HE-5LE when I get my replacement pair, so if anyone wanted to do a combo I would be flexible on price.
If you want I'll toss in a pair of 1 meter Audio-GD "shark" silver plated copper rca cables for $15 extra.
See my feedback below.
