Best coaxial soundcard to use with V-DAC?

Thread Starter

I use my V-DAC with my computer via USB. But in the reviews I read that optical S/PDIF sounds better and coaxial sounds best. So I wonder which soundcard I must buy to get better result with the coaxial S/PDIF. Is that any soundcard with coaxial output or are there differences in quality. It must be an improvement over the quality I have now, which is great. But if I can make it sound even better...

I'm not gonna makes changes to the V-DAC like some of you here do, I just don't know anything about electronics, so that would probably end in killing a V-DAC. I can change the PSU, I didn't do that yet. Should that give more improvement then switching to coaxial input?

Probably I should do both.

Does anybody has experience with which is the best soundcard for this? I don't care about any other options on the card. Just want to have a quality coaxial output. Both internal or external cards are fine. I prefer the external, unless a better quality can be achieved with an internal card. Or if the internal card costs a lot less. :)

I have no personal experience with Digital audio, but i am personally in the same boat. I'm looking to buy a Coax soundcard --> DAC/AMP.

The best i have found -purely by specs- is The Musland Digital Times. It has a blistering 140 SNR. The best ive seen.

A proven card is the Xonar ST, but at 3x the price its hard to justify, when the Digital Times has better Specs. BUT the Xonar ST is a proven card.
