Cable Protection

Thread Starter

Hello everyone.

Im not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I will go ahead and give it a shot.  If I am wrong, feel free to move it to the right spot.

Im looking for some new headphones for work, but I have a small issue. My office has three dedicated workspaces that I use quite a bit, sometimes switching back and forth between them every hour or so.  They are only a few feet apart, so I wheel myself back and forth quite a bit.  This of course means that eventually, my cord is going to find itself wrapped up in the wheels of the chair or at the very least rolled over pretty continuously.

I have solved this by working with wireless headphones, but as it comes time to buy new ones I find myself having some difficulty finding a set that works well, but dont cost an arm and a leg.  (If you have any suggestions on that, I have a post here requesting suggestions!  http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/525757/need-suggestions-for-work-headphones-audiobooks-wireless

I cannot imagine that I am the only person who has had this sort of problem, and I learned a long time ago that its easier to ask the experts than beat your head against the wall for hours.  So... Experts... Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Mike.

Hey Mike.

One solution is to maybe use a small portable system that you can tuck into a pocket, or put in a small travel bag that you can loop over your chair.  Then your headphone cable will always "travel" with you as you wheel around.

You could also just locate your rig in the center of your three stations and only turn your chair back and forth, never all the way around.

One more solution would be to get headphones with a coiled cable.  Something like that would expand and contract as you need it to, hopefully avoiding the cable on the floor mess.

Hope that helps,

(Solution number one, the portable rig, seems like it would work the best)

Kevin
