Two things, zune's hold switch is broken

So I'm looking for a way to fix or get a new MP3/PMP

I never registered mine to the Zune Network Social and I'm not sure if I can now. So is there any way to fix this or if not what's a good PMP? Something with browser capabilities and good sound quality. Heard the Itouch 4th gen has terrible sound compared to other MP3s or PMPs but otherwise it's fairly appealing minus the lack of flash. I was going to wait for the Samsung YP-MB2 but who knows when that's coming out and Archos doesn't offer capacitive screens at a similar price point which is meh IMO.

MS is fairly good about repairs.  A friend of mine bought one off of ebay and they were willing to work with him to use me as an intermediary (he's in the UK) to get out a box to ship the damaged Zune and send a replacement.  If they were willing to do that for him (it was a broken hdd) you should be fine.

I wonder if a deactivated smart phone would be good? Like the Samsung Galaxy? The only thing I'm' worried about is battery life. Smart phones don't seem that good compared to PMPs in terms of battery life

Sorry, I didn't even notice you replied.  I need to use the subscription function more often.

The largest drain on a smart phone is actually email/messages/wireless connection.  If you're constantly receiving emails (if your phone checks frequently for emails) or if you're in a bad service area and it constantly swaps between EDGE/GPRS and 3G then it'll be quite a burden.  If it's deactivated (I'm assuming you mean you have no phone service) then you can use it while in airplane mode.  It'll keep the battery lasting longer and should last long enough.  Though I'd worry about the quality of the DAC and the amplification.

You'd probably be better off RMAing that Zune, looking for a replacement in the FS section or buying a cheap replacement like a Sansa Clip or a low capacity iPod or such.

Eh, the thing is if I go with a new device I want to get something that is has more functions than just a music player. Even though it's a trap I want to fall into it :P

I suppose the long wait is going to be the way to go or me :/
