Will this improve the sound of my A900's from my ihp?

I have an ihp-100 and although the sound is definitely great (better then ipod ), I was wondering if using it with my sony 200w bookshelf system will increase the sound quality (like an amp) for my A900's? What I was thinking is I'll use my mini to 2 rca plugs Y cable to connect the ihp's line out to the stereo system and plug in my A900's to the system. Will that make the sound quality better? I have not got my A900's yet, but they should be here within a matter of days... just getting ready.

does the ihp-100 have a dedicated line out (rather than running through the headphone out, into the AUX inputs)... if yes, then without hearing your system, I would imagine that if nothing else it would allow for a better headroom, whereas... if not, then I probably would try it (would only cost you the Y cable) but it probably wouldn't sound as good as you'd hope, as it would amplify the pops / crackles (you don't know how bad things are until you do this ) and... if your player beeps when changing tracks and so forth... OUCH! that gets amplified too

yeah it's a dedicated line out and what do u mean by "better headroom"?

i was wondering what'll be the better source for my headphones and in what order if possible:

-sony 200watt bookshelf system headphones jack
-sound blaster live 5.1 platnimun
-ihp100's optical out to Y cable to sony system to headphone jack
-ihp100 headphone jack

(would the order above be correct?)

In my experience...headphone jacks on bookshelf systems are pretty noisy

I say no/maybe, because the way you describe it, you're using the Sony to drive your headphones. The headphone output on these sort of systems is usually just a tap off the preamp or speakers (with resistors), with no dedicated headphone amplification circuitry. You'll likely hear more volume, but probably more noise.
