Jumper settings for Little Dot MK IV SE and AKG K702

Hello people.

I have just acquired a set of K702 headphones and would just like some feedback as to what jumper settings people are using
when paired to the MK IV SE. Currently, running at Gain setting 5 and it has just enough gain to get them going, would the max setting of 10
be of any benefit without compromise to the sound quality. I also drive a set of Grado SR325IS with this amp and they run perfectly on a gain setting of 3, but the K702's don't even get moving at that setting.

Straight of the bat the AKG's sound much nicer than the Grado's which, have 50hrs on them already, and i think will just get better as they burn in for a while. They are very power hungry though, and from experience with many speakers, generally the less efficient the better they sound, seems that way with cans also..

Any feedback would be great and thanks in advance..

I don't own a Little dot MK IV SE but I do own the K702s, Isn't there like a manual which tells you which gain does what or maybe you can find one. Because the K702 is 62ohms and maximum power output recommend is 200mV just in-case you doesn't know. After a while they will sound totally different then what they first did when you put them on. They req at least 300hours or maybe more give or take. You can try different gain settings til you find one that sound right. Tho I would say find the manual like I mention and to see what voltage each setting does. As you don't wanna push way too much voltage thou the headphones.

Hi genclaymore.

I appreciate the reply, thank you. The manual is not very clear on the output voltage at that gain setting, but at the max gain setting which is for 300-600 ohm cans it is 500mV. I have to wind the volume knob to about 80-85% to get a reasonable listening volume, but i can tell they still want more, they have the attack, just not enough.

I also realise the sound signature will change in time, and for the better from what i have read. They do sound very nice out of the box, they in my opinion put the Grado's to shame. I also do not understand what all the fuss about a lack of bass is, it is as tight and present as need be. No slop, notes stop when they are meant too, terrific.

I will have a play around with the gain settings and se what happens, just thought i would get some feedback from the seasoned pro's.

Just purchased a Little Dot MK-II (With Mullards) and AKG K701's.
I had to set the two switches on each channel both to OFF i.e. 10 Gain / Max.

Sounds great!
