which op amp configuration?

Thread Starter

I am looking for a good op amp configuration for my xonar stx card. I have no idea HOW to change op amps or WHAT to do. I am aware there is an stx tweaking thread but nobody on that thread is actually explaining HOW to change the op amps. I  have never dealt with op amps and I am afraid of how to do it.

Could someone explain how I can change op amps on my xonar stx card safely or provide me a link to a guide that thoroughly explains this process (I have tried searching but cannot find)?

Can you also provide me reccomendations on what op amps I should buy for my set up and Where I can buy these op amps (I am located in Canada).

Here is my setup.

Xonar Essence Stx -> Lehmann Audio BCL -> HD 650

sorry for hijacking
Where did you get the Lehman and how much, have you tried other amplifiers with the 650,

forget about the opamps, you`d better get a good external DAC

What the hell? DAC's dont make a huge difference to sound does it? I was under the assumption the stx is an excellent DAC.  I've compared benchmark Dac USB and Lehmann BCL side by side and I was not able to hear a significant difference and I still dont tell a significant difference from my STX.

I got the Lehmann BCL from a local store in Downtown Ottawa..yes locally =) I paid about 700 Canadian for it and it was a display model but sold as new (with the full manufacturer warranty). It was on display for 5 months before I found it. The store owners said that nobody was interested on the BCL (I have the NON USB version btw).

Don't listen to people who havent even compared DACS and The Xonar ST/STX. On newegg reviews, there is an audiophile that claims there is little difference between this and a $1200 DAC he owns.

Which brings us back to sonci's recommendation to forget about the opamps. ;)

Don't see why you should return it though, that was a bit harsh.
