(Sold) Top Shelf Millett Max by Soloz Audio

For sale is a Millet Max built by Jacob at Soloz Audio filled with top shelf parts in pristine condition. I am the original owner.

 

Technical details:

The Millett Max (CA2: Black Gate NX, 1000uf 25V CA7: Black Gate NX, 680uf 35V CA8: Vitamin Q's, 0.22uf 100V CA9: blank (Wimas elsewhere) 2SC2238/2SA968 BJT Diamond Buffer) has Cardas Female GRFA RCAs, Cardas Magnet wire wrapped in Teflon, blackgate NX caps, vit-q bypasses, hand matched resisters and transistors, inside of a silver tapped enclosure with a blue velvet pot with silver knob, and added test points for easy tube bias adjustment. (Millett Max Boutique Build #1) Tubes: GE Sidering 12AE6s. 

 

Laymen's terms: Full Cardas wiring throughout with Cardas RCA inputs. Premium hand matched resistors and transistors and top shelf capacitors in the signal line. 

 

Bottom Line: This amp has great authority and provides a euphonic sound without muddying over the details. Great sound, a competitor way above its price point. 

 

Includes Triad Power Supply.

Sorry as I am unsure of how to open it and do not want to risk any damage to the unit I have no pictures of the internals.

 

Based on Jacobs (Owner of Soloz Audio) other work (such as his cables) I am assuming the construction is clean and meticulous.

Having used the Millett with K701s and HD600s I can say that the effect it has on different impedance (and very different sounding phones) is actually quite similar. I have never heard Grados before but I would hypothesize that the Millett would add authority, warmth and texture. This is what it added to both my K701s and HD600s and I think is an intrinsic value of the amp.

For the time being, my source will have to be my Sony X and WAV files. Considering this limitation, would my sr225i benefit from the Millet Max in any considerable way.

In my opinion a good amplifier is an integral part to great sound and can greatly improve the listening experience.

 

I have used my amplifier with a pc as a source and it is head and shoulders above the pc output alone.

 

While I cannot say precisely for the Grados, I can say that with my K701 and HD600 there is improvement across the board with the amp in the line as compared to the pc headjack.
