Getting KRK Rokits 8G2 Speakers for use with PC - what DAC to get with it?

I've heard recommendations for the M-AUDIO Firewire Solo DAC, with even has an input for guitar (which I'd use). I wish I could just use my Auzentech Forte, but from what I understand I can't do that, right? Also, what cables would I ideally use to hook all this up?

Thanks

Firewire Dacs I have tried

M-Audio Solo

Apogee

TC Konnekt 8

M-Audio ProFire 610

I kept the TC Konnekt, the others went back.  All can be purchased via Guitar Center [which I did] try them out for yourself.

Keep in mind that if you intend on going the Firewire route with Windows you will need a FW card with a TI chip [if you didn't already know that]

Good Luck.

****, really? I don't even know what that is...

Have any recommendations?

EDIT: Where do you even see that? It says in the requirements you can use an onboard firewire port, why can't I use that?

No worries, use what you have, it if works great.  If not some searching might lead you to TC support where they recommend firewire cards with Texas Instruments chip sets.  TI chips are one of the few that do not throttle the data when it is passing through.  If the data stream is throttled due to increased cpu load there will be skips and stuttering.

Bump - I have another question. My M-AUDIO Pro manual says they highly recommend using the firewall cable it came with due to its high quality. I bought it used so I don't have it. Does it really make a difference - considering the cable is digital and all?
