Would headphone amp damage active speakers?

Thread Starter

I am looking for a simple cheap headphone amp that can split the output from PC multiple ways so I can simultaneously hook up two self-amped speakers and some headphones to it via TRS stereo connectors.

I know headphone amps are meant for headphones, but can the amplified output damage active self-powered speakers (such as m-audio bx5a, av40, Logitech speakers, etc)?

You should probably look for a preamp that has a headphone jack. There are some out there, but you can also look at running a preamp with a tape loop/record out function. You can connect a headphone amp to that and your speakers to the preamp out.
