Seeking office speaker recommendation: small, passive, efficient

Seems like most speakers for small environments are powered.

I have my own low power tube amp, so I'm looking for small high efficiency speakers which can produce clean, transparent balanced sound at low volumes.

Has anyone set up a similar system?

Unfortunately there is a fashion now for speakers with amplifiers built into them.

I think that having the amplifier separate from the speakers is a very good idea :)

With a low power amplifier I think most of the dynamic speakers will work fine in a near-field listening environment.

I think you could pick up something very good second-hand.

I actually use a pair of Rogers db101s which are no longer made unfortunately, but they are a good example of the reasonably efficient small speakers that can be bought second-hand quite cheaply.
