DNA Sonnett With The HD800?

Hi everyone,

 

My current setup Xonar STX + HD800 seem to not be a good match at all. I did some research and figured I need a good Amp and finally settled on the DNA Sonnett since it seems to be the best bang for the buck Amp out there for the HD800.

 

So couple of questions...

 

1. What do you guys think of the DNA Sonnett for the HD800's?

 

2. Should I go for the balanced output version?

 

3. If I do go for the balanced version what cables would you recommend for the HD800, I want something solid but not ridiculously expensive.

 

4. Would the Xonar STX be a good source for the DNA? I would be using RCA to XLR to connect it to the amp correct?

 

5. Out of curiosity would a Pionner CDJ2000 be a good source for the Amp?

The Sonett and HD-800 do well together. I've listened to the combination at a couple of meets and really like it.

I don't see much point going for the balanced option. It'll force you to buy an expensive cable that won't give you any benefit. It sounds great single-ended, so I don't know what the benefit would be.

Also, Donald is a good guy and I like him a lot. He is able to answer all of your questions and will treat you right.

Appreciate the reply, What about my Xonar STX as a source?

 

I understand that the Sonnett has only RCA inputs so sounds like a good match since the Xonar has RCA out as well, but what do you think about using it as a source?

 

And any ideas about using the CDJ2000 as a source?
