Amp recommendation with uDAC-2 ?

Hello guys ,

I'm very new to this "audiophile" things since i was blown away while trying a Grado-GS1000 at a shop due to curiosity.. (:

As of now .. i've got a uDAC-2 , a Grado SR80i and just many many flac files ^^

Yeah and i kind of need an amp .. was thinking about the Audio-GD NFB11 (if that's an amp?)

Any recommendations ? I'm just 16 hehe , generally looking for something below USD$400 .. located in Singapore

Oh by the way .. there's 1 major puzzling issue going on in my mind ..

How am i supposed to connect my uDAC 2 to the amp ?

Sorry but i can't really figure out working with cablings etc..

Thanks!!

Yep, what he said.  Really no point going nuts spending $ for an easy to drive phone like the SR80i.  Your uDAC2 will be enough, but if you want to change the sound a bit look into a tube or hybrid amp.

uDac2 is a very well made product, and it's very capable to drive SR80i.

I suggest spent your 400 bucks for another headphone, maybe higher end Grado.

Oh okay thank you all ! Cause my intention was to like make it sound better , or sort of to push it to it's potential (:dt880smile.png

yeah I know, with desktop amp you can get better SQ.

but!

with the same amount of money, you can get higher SQ by upgrade your headphone with higher end Grado. :)

The Audio GD NFB11 is more is an amp with a DAC and the uDAC is a DAC with an amp at least that's my perception. I replaced a uDAC with the Sparrow whch is pretty similar from what I can tell to the NFB 11 and 12. There are some big differences but basically all three are amps with DAC's. The big difference between the uDAC and uDAC2 versus the Audio GD stuff is the uDAC's get their power via USB and the Audio GD stuff has it's own power source, which is much better if you are using a desktop or not dragging a laptop around. If you are using a laptop and dragging it around the uDAC is a more practical DAC / amp combo.

I have to agree with the other comments here though about upgrading your headphones. My experience in moving up the Grado line is no amount of amplification would have allowed me to achieve the incremental increases in SQ that you can achieve by upgrading the headphone itself. Considering your budget some used HF2's would be a nice upgrade or if you prefer new you might want to consider a pair of MS2i's from Allesandro.

Can anyone suggest the best cabling to connect a uDAC2 to the iBasso PB2 Pelican?  Would RCA to single ended 3.5mm work OK?  Driving HD 650s.
