DT770 pro 80 portible amp selection? ~$100

Ok, I've searched for hours upon hours and cant really narrow anything down yet. ~$100 would be a good limit.

 

I'm basically set on getting the DT770pro 80s

I listen to mainly

EDM (trance, dubstep, progressive etc)

Hiphop/Rap

R&B

Other types of music are sprinkled in as well.

 

Main source will be a 2007 MBP and 2nd gen Ipod touch with FiiO L3 LOD.

I also have a set of Ultimate Ear Triple.Fi 10's that I'll probably end up using this amp with as well

 

 

I'd like the amp to be portable for airplanes etc. so keeping it relatively small would be a plus.

 

I've read up on the Fiio E5 which I hear is basically junk

 

Various CMoys. I don't know if they will have enough to power these things. if it would which would you recommend? Although I don't know about taking these things through airport security these days

 

PA2V2? I hear this thing might be to dark for the DT's

 

iBasso?

FiiO E7?

Bithead?

 

please any suggestions would be nice.

I ordered a FiiO E5 just to mess around with when I got the cans, but still would like something that can really drive these things.

The JDS Labs CMoy BB v2.02 is quite a contender under $100 (it retails for $69 including shipping to the US if I'm not mistaken) but since you're also using it with a Macbook, the Fiio E7 might be a better choice because it works as both a portable amp and a DAC for your laptop which will likely provide a much better listening experience than your MBP's onboard audio.

The best I heard with DT770/80 Pro is XIN Supermicro IV. It is out of production and can be found on FS: forums around $150.

The next is Meier Move. FWIR, its little sister Headsix is similar to it, so believe it would pair nice with DT770/80 Pro. It can be found on FS: close to $100.

If I were you, I'd purchase one of these amps, even used. I know that this kind synergy is hard to achieve, so I doubt any new $100 amp will pair so good.

Not enough juice. sounds better straight out of the computer. With the ipod on full volume it cant really push them hard enough (no surprise there) E5 gives it a bit of a pump.
