Recommendations for DAC/amp combo for around $300?

Hello all,

It's been about 3.5 years since I last visited Head-Fi and bought headphones (Alessandro MS-1 and beyer DT770pro) and a portable amp (iBasso T2, now broken) and today's my birthday and I feel like buying myself a little something..

My only source is a laptop, so that's why I'm interested in a DAC, but if there isn't a good combo in my price range, I'd probably get a standalone amp since my little portable amp is broken. And since I'm a bit out of the loop, I'm not even sure if combos are available in the $300-$400 price range.

Musical interests are [progressive] rock and I always enjoy nice bass

audio gd fun

Audinst Hud MX-1

Maverick Audio Dac

Hi. If I were you, I would consider buying some second-hand products. With around $300 you can get Cambridge Magic Box DAC or PS Audio GCHA. They are much better than the new gears around $300.

DACport is another option thats been getting some really good reviews and is highly portable.
