I just recently had to ship a small package (under 3 pounds) to return to the manufacturer and it cost almost $40 and it took 5 days to get it delivered using Express Mail.
If I has sent it across the US, it would probably have been under $10 and it would have arrived in 2 to 3 days with Express Mail. With the countries being neighbors, it would seem like they would want to encourage purchases between countries. I thought I also understood shipping from Canada to the US was much more reasonable than the other way.
This really makes me think about purchasing anything out of the country if you have to ship it back.
