How long will a DAC last?

Hi, everyone.

I am considering of buying a second-hand DAC, which has been used for more than three years.

I am just wondering how long will a DAC last in normal case? Would it be well for 5+ years?

Thanks.

I see no reason why it wouldn't last 50+ years.

I have a DAC that is 17 years old and it functions as good as the day it was made.

It really depends on the build quality, but most audiophile gear is well made.

Also, DACs don't usually run at high temperatures, which is the enemy of electronics. Heat kills a lot of components.

If you do pick it up, open the case and blow out the dust. Compressed air is good, but you might also want to pick up a 20¢ brush at Home Depot and get all the dust out. Then when you run it, make sure it isn't stuck next to a high-heat component. Give it some breathing room and cool air.

That might be slightly overkill, but you'll maximize the lifespan, which could be a very long time.

Ideally,if a product is well made and treated properly I think it should last for a very long time
