Will the 40GB Karma Ever Be released

Thread Starter
I think thats thats gonna be the best ever HD Player on the market if it drops. It some the same as an ipod, and has a settable EQ to make it sound even better, within the 20gb model. The controls are easy and nice looking, and Flac support, its just Hot!. 40GB model was just perfect for my large library.

I thought it was supposed it come out in NOV 2003, what happend to it?

DOH. This has been discussed loads of times before if you would care to search. Basically, its just that the Karma's hard drive suppliers aren't manufacturing 40GB for the time being. But it must happen sooner or later.

Rio folks at Riovolution.com are saying don't hold your breathe. All signs point to NO. There is probably not enough demand for it to make it worth the additional production costs. Few people are as storage-hungry as we. It might help them with publicity though. iPod-lovers can still tout the Pod as having the highest 1.8" drive capacity (40gb)... yippee... you listen to .02% of it before the battery runs out

Yeah but ironically you will probably need 40GB if you are into FLAC.

Supposedly there were supply problems with the 40GB drive that the Karma was going to use. I suspect a 40GB model will be out next year, but we won't hear anything official until after the shopping season.

Maybe we should all just get 128MB flash players so we can make sure the battery lasts longer than the music

I know ya love the new iPod man, and it is a nice thing to have (no doubt) but its hard to argue that 7 hours of playtime is sufficient. That won't even cover 1 day at work...

Yeah yeah, I know with any player you still only get to hear a small portion of your collection

See the thread from a few days ago as to why "extended" battery life is as overrated as power ratings on amplifiers. Most users don't use their MP3 players for more than 8 hours at a time. Heck, most don't even use them for more than a few hours at a time. But there's no sense in geting into the same debate in yet another thread. For some users, having 15 hours of battery life is necessary; for most, it's simply a spec.

Well, we all know what format is best for long battery life, undeniably...Kenwood's MD Players have the best, over 170 hours on a NiMH and AA...it's madness (sorry to be a little OT).

If you are seriously going to use it as a work unit, woudn't you take the cradle and leave it there??

DMC-S55, DMC-S77...I might get a black S77, I was just looking at it and...BEAUTIFUL...but it's $240, same price as a DR7, and has half the output if that.
