Cool mate -

I am hoping to get to hear some of these amazing headphones and source players, DACs etc...

I have to import all the items I own. Would love to have access to trying these new items before I decide to buy them...less risky and better to use my own ears before buying...

Woah. There are Taiwanese members here? That is awesome. I'm going to be in Taiwan in December for a nice break. I would totally bring a pair of nice headphone with me on the trip if a meet happens!

That ROCKS!!! I wonder where a meet could take place...

I have a few connections to local dealers of hi-fi equipment. They may know of people who would come and want to share...

I will look into it ... though I may be in London at that time - might be good to start something off and then later on a regular basis

I'm British but I have studio based work in Taiwan...

Wow, when I was in Taiwan I talked to many people about finding certain headphone gears.  Apparently headphone equipment aren't as big as home theater stuff (which Taiwan has gobs off, nice stuff too!).  Small market despite you can find tons of Japanese brands, oh and Grado are super expensive over there.

Yep - everything hi-fi wise is over-priced here...Thing is I don't anyone buying them either!!!

Weird...Anyway - it is true but with the ipod madness - I see more and more people on the streets with cans - from the ever popular Skull-Candy to the Dr. Dre's and Audio Technica's...

Mine don't look half as fashionable but sound-wise they are in a different league...

I agree that the prices are pretty high here, considering that Audio Technica and a few other brands make headphones here. I usually get my equipment in the U.S. and have friends and relatives bring them over.

I actually see lots of people wearing the headphones with the big white star on them, not sure of the brand. Saw a girl wearing the Sony XB700's at Nanjing East Road MRT station yesterday and somebody had the Superlux HD 681's on the same train as me today. Other than that a few Grado's every once in a while.

If there is anyone out there who wants to know some good spots to look for audio equipment in Taipei,  I can send you in the right direction - in terms of where I shop.

It helps to sort out which ones are quality shops and where to find what you are looking for...

Yep I saw those star ones and many people using IEMs or buds.  However, I did see many people using the Sampo earphones, the foldable ones.

Yeah those star "thingies" are pretty popular here but they do match the clothes that some folks wear.

I am not sure how often meets are held here in Taiwan but I had the chance to attend one that was held in Hsinchu, earlier this year. It was organized by the guys at Earzone. They do have a forum and are some very amiable individuals, like most Taiwanese.

No I haven't. I know a great place for headphones - both near the pc market area - two actually. Also two places for great hi-fi eq. The owners of one of these hi-fi specialist shops is a friend of mine too...

They are the authentic dealers of McIntosh, B & W and other brand names...well worth visiting them if you are looking for tube amps or quality SACD players etc...

I will check out this one though,,,where exactly near Guting MRT? Roosevelt Road?? Shi-da??
