Up to sell are Stax Sr84 system Lambda Jr. (Sr80 earspeakers and the srd4 energizer) in mint condition, which can be seen in the pictures. This system has the typical Stax sound with fast and detailed sound and a very large sound stage similar to the Lambdas. Overall a decent entry level Stax system to get a taste of the electrostatic sound. Please note that the Srd4 energizer is not an amp. looking for 100$ plus shipping (8 to 12$ US, 15 to 30$ international). paypal only ( add 3% if not paying as gift).
The SR-84 earspeaker is the open back electret type, a new variation of the electrostatic earspeaker system. Unlike the now conventional electiostatic earspeakers such as its predecessor, the STAX SR-5, the SR-84 incorporates as its transducer a diaphragm known as electret which operates without the supply of DC voltage. Thus its adaptor SRD-4 circuitry has been considerably simplified. Coupled with the advent of the advanced material, the technology and know-how of STAX accumulated through many years of electrostatic earspeaker manufacturing have enabled the SR-84 to be comparable in sound quality to its renowned predecessors.
Turn off the amplifier and connect the 4-strand cable of the SRD-4 to the amplifier output terminals; Red strand to R -, Black strand to R +, White strand to L + and Green strand to L -. In case of a vacuum tube amplifier with output terminals marked 16/8/4/0, consider that 8 is + and 0 is -.
Connect speaker cords to the push terminals on the rear side of the SRD-4, making sure the Left, Right, + and - are properly matched. In case your amplifier has two pairs of speaker terminals, the speaker systems can be directly connected to the amplifier.
Plug the SR-80 earspeaker to the SRD-4 front panel socket. Once the system is energized the earspeaker is now operative when the selector switch is in EARSPEAKER and when the switch is in LOUDSPEAKER the amplifier output will be directly fed into the speaker system, provided the speaker cords are connected to the SRD-4.
Adjust the headband so that the center of an earspeaker is aligned with that of an ear.
The earspeaker cord is of soft, curl-resistent, flat 4-parallel-strand type. Care should be taken, however, that no excess bending or stretching pressures are applied to it.
Do not throw the earspeaker or do not cause severe impact to it to prevent possible damage to the--transducer.
Do not place the earspeaker in the direct sunshine or on hot amplifiers to prevent warping of its parts which may cause trouble.\
In cleaning the earspeaker or ear-pads, do not use thinner or its derivatives. Always use thin soapy water or neutral detergent.
