Was checking before buying an aftermarket cable ...

T_T I FEEL U BRO!!! :/ you really should get HD650 to enjoy while the CIEM is away for reshelling, what is the waiting time now?
I got some old, broken stock cables for a DIY project and they were pretty gross under the plastic around the memory wire.
Nice. I had my eyes on this cable. Plus the guys at DHC are really nice. How is it the best sounding ?
Thanks, that's exactly what mine looks like.
Best sounding from what I have. So compared to C_H hybrid, TWag V2, and Toxic Scorpion. I don't know if it's a "shiny new" thing but I'm pretty sure it is quite an improvement from my other cables.
It's just a standard termination for Westone, JH.
Could you say anything about how the "Fusion" cable affects the sound in terms of words like warm / clean / rounded etc. etc.
Have you tried with SE5 ? Does it alter sound ?
Still need to listen more to it to draw conclusion. But from yesterday listening I can say that it is well rounded, with emphasis on bigger soundstage, deeper bass and better instrument separation. Also the high is great, no sibilance.
SE5 is not yet remolded. I still have the fixed cable version. I'm sending it back this month for remold. I didn't do it because I was skeptical about aftermarket cable. It's always too stiff..
When I contacted Peter about their cable, he promised me that the fusion will be flexible if it uses the flat braid. It is still stiffer than SE5's cable but it's very acceptable. I can roll it easily and store it in a tiny case.
Seeing everybody so passionate about audio has gotten me really excited. I've been surfing this forum for some time ever since I was deliberating on whether to get the Miracles or not.
I initially owned the TF10s and considered reshelling them to the TF18s or taking the plunge to straight customs. A few CIEMs caught my attention and I did not regret my decision to choose the Miracles thus far. Special thanks to the many helpful people out here at headfi for your invaluable advice =)
These were the threads which I was involved in.
On June 1st, I received a piece of good news. Finally, Stereo Singapore is planning to renew their collaboration with Unique Melody and had a special promotion for UM products for a limited time only.
They were having a promotion for the Miracles at SGD1199, with free shipping, mono artwork/face plate. It was an extremely enticing offer but I had to give the TF18s a shot as well because I did not want to spend too much money. I managed to find a seller based locally who was willing to let go of the TF18 at a reasonable price, so I went to audition them.
I tested the TF18 on my Cowon J3 and listened to EDM/English flac files. As the TF18 were not fitted specially for me, I had a hard time forcing them to fit into my ears and it really did hurt a bit =X After much struggle, I finally managed to squeeze the bore of the tf18 into my ear canal.
Here are my impressions on the TF18, or better known as TF10 x 6.
Track played: Hardwell - Call Me A Spaceman
The first thing which struck me was the soundstage. During the first ten seconds of the song, I noticed a considerably larger soundstage than the TF10! The TF18 was much more spacious with great separation. The lows, mids and highs were distinguished clearly and well separated but blended well together with the crossovers. I really have to applaud UM labs for their awesome job!
The already strong bass present in the TF10 was now more emphasized in the TF18. The bass was punchier, still well-controlled, and sounded much more satisfying than the TF10. This is especially apparent when I was listening to Mirrors by Justin Timberlake from 10 seconds onwards where the background bass started to kick in.
The recessed mids in the TF10 were now present. They were not overly forward, in your face, but mixed nicely with the rest of the music. Clear and sharp.
However, one big problem for me was the highs of the TF18. The TF18 seems to have a much harsher treble than the TF10, they sounded overly bright for my liking, especially when I listen to plenty of EDM with plenty of emphasis on treble. The trebles were bright and didn't seem to roll off nicely. It sounded your ear was ready to get pierced by the treble on certain parts of the song and it was a major concern for me due to ear fatigue.
SO FOR ALL THOSE OF YOU WITH THE TF10 AND WISH TO UPGRADE TO A 6 DRIVER TF18 OR TF10 X 6, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TO AUDITION THEM FIRST BEFORE TAKING THE LEAP OF FAITH.
The harsh trebles may not be something which you like. Overall, I wouldn't say that the trebles would be too disturbing but prolonged listening on my CIEMs was a cause of concern for me and I was afraid that I wouldn't last more than two hours listening to the TF18. The TF18 is still a really good CIEM that TF10 owners should consider should you have budget concerns due to it's wide soundstage, punchier bass, and mids.
Finally, I decided to go with the Miracles as I was looking to use a pair of CIEMs for at least a few years and the warranty was a big issue for me. Here comes the exciting part!
Choosing of design
I had plenty of crazy ideas into choosing the design for my Miracles. I even had an idea of having an IRON MAN miracles!
I drew plenty of inspiration from the wonderful gallery on the UM Global website.
The ones with titanium plates were extremely beautiful and finally gave me an inspiration for this
Stereo told me that I would expect to get back my miracles in about 4-6 weeks time. To my surprise, they only took 19 days to arrive from the day of purchase! The 19 day wait was extremely torturous, I thought about the miracles every single day and even had a dream of myself unboxing it! When they really arrived, I took great pleasure in the unboxing process and savoured every moment of it =)
You can see that the the Miracles turned out even better than how they looked on the website! I found this design extremely elegant and classy. A design befitting the name of MIRACLES. Fitting my very first customs into my ear was a painful process, it took some getting used to due to the acrylic shell pressing against my ears. I was told my the staff at Stereo that it would take roughly a week for me to get used to the miracles. I can feel the shell pressing tightly against my Fossa and it was quite uncomfortable at first.
As expected, these highly praised customs are indeed worthy of being the 10/10 music experience! It may not be THE 10/10 music experience but it is A 10/10 music experience. One thing to note is that these wonderful goodies require burn in before their full potential can be unleashed. I'm now into >20 hours of burning in and I can already hear the significant difference in soundstage as compared to when I first received them.
I shall not elaborate too much on how the musical experience of the miracles I believe that there are many others who are more experienced and capable of elaborating them. This is just a post to share my wonderful experience of getting the Unique Melody Miracles =)
