It's probably best to save up for other equiptment before you get an aftermarket cable. I would really recommend Toxic Cables. Frank built me an amazing cable before. You can get a Silver widow for around £200.

"the layer of silver creates interference or distortion of the signal because it creates reflections between the layer of silver and the copper"

i tested this very bad feeling with the Bladur MKIII cable :/ silver plated copper. so it is better to have pure copper or pure silver, also if you searched about most of the sold cables around 80% of them are plated etc.

going Toxic or 93PC for now. i wish that there is some rush order option etc :<

I got my Toxic Cable after 2 weeks.

Coming from Tera Player directly, SE5 has no contest, simply the best. Miracle sounds very wrong paired with TP. With amp is a different story.

Miracle is sounding really really good for prog rock/metal, power pop stuff. I'm listening to TOTO Livefields - Million Miles Away right now, and I am so very impressed with the bass and treble power.

Aren't they supposed to be neutral?

Tiny bit recessed.

Not what I'm hearing. It's not really hard v shaped, but tiny bit more than neutral.

Yeah, but mine are still not here after almost 10 weeks.

To be fair, does I sent my impressions there, they got rejected, then I had to get new impressions done, but I changed the design so I didn't keep my spot. Sorry for any confusion.

What portable source pairs well with the Miracle?

What a loaded question :)  Generally speaking a source where the output has 2 or less impedance.

The Miracles are very easy to drive.......anything from a iPod mini to a DX100 should be good as long as I say not too much impedance.

I currently use a iPod > Fostex HP-P1 > RSA Hornet. I do so because the HP has 10 output and the Miracles are 16.......so maybe the sound would be distorted.

Well, if you know what you are doing and know impedance characteristics (of the IEM, or in this case, of Miracle), it defends. I don't know about Miracle yet, but in case of Merlin - which is known to have similar mid-high composition, it's impedance varies from about 28 Ohms maximum to 7 Ohms minimum. So output impedance of DAP or even resistance of cables do matter quite a bit. For example, silver cables whose resistance is about an Ohm less than stock cables on Merlin makes its bass to go down 3~4dB.

Of course I can't say the same about Miracle, as in the case of Merlin its dynamic driver, whose impedance is higher than its balanced armatures, makes quite a significant shift. Howerver in Miracle, it might not as it has balanced armatures as its bass part.

If you're after what the manufacturer intended, generally it's good to have less output impedance, or even near zero. Also, nowadays many portable sources, even some phones such as iPhone or Galaxy series from S3 and on, are powerful enough to drive some full-sized headphones and have linear frequency characteristics. So I'd recommend an iPhone or even an iPod as they're comfortable for me, and I don't have to carry around the whole system with me. If you're not into Apple products, many Android devices are also quite good, but it varies drastically. For example, Nexus 7 has output impedance higher than 100, which will probably skew many multi-trancducer-CIEMs' frequency response, while Galaxy S3 has less than 4 Ohms, which is about the same as the iPhone 5.

I'm waiting on an RWAK100 which should arrive any day now. The stock AK100 sounds spectacular with Miracles, but needs an amp due to impedance issues (as explained in previous posts).

I'll advise once I have the RWAK100.

How much are you willing to spend and how important is size? (ie is chunky DX100 or DAP+amp an option?)
