I think you said as much on the DHC cables thread, Poetik. It was helpful because I contacted Peter and asked for the Y-Split to be longer (similar to the stock Epic cable). Apparently these days (I don't know about the past) his Y-Split is longer. Holding it next to the Westone Epic cable (as supplied with Miracles and many other customs), the Symbiote's separate L/R leads are longer than the epic by a good 2-3cm. No gay cowboy here!

Lol and hmm, maybe he switched up the design.  All I know is that with the DHC symbiote, I have NEVER encountered a cable with a y split that short.  I tried it on and then literally sat there for 10 minutes trying to figure out how someone could even justify making the y split that length.  The only conclusion that came to me was he either wanted me to look like a gay cowboy or someone that wanted to have sex with robots. 

I remember emailing Peter about 3 different times to order a cable with a longer y split.  He never replied to me so I dunno if I hurt his feelings, if he was purposely ignoring me, or if he was just busy devising a new strategy to make his y split even shorter.  You were apparently able to order a cable with a longer y split so I guess he eventually came to terms with it.

Have you ever written another review between Miracles and Merlin or either of them.

If you did, could you please give a link so i can read it.

What's the bass difference between Miracles and Merlin?

I read one guy saying Merlin is better than Miracles because Merlin is better for enjoying songs even though Merlin is quite not balanced.

He also mentioned Merlin has a matched treble and midrange as Miracle's. So his conclusion is Merlin has a better bass than Miracles, a matched treble and midrange than Miracles. The winner of this runoff is Merlin!

BTW, that guy only heard the demo for both Miracles and Merlin.

Haha - that's hilarious. I found Peter never responded to one of my emails asking about timing of delivery so maybe he just ignores certain emails when he is super busy - not ideal, but I've got my cable so I'm not complaining.

I would love to hear this type of comparison too because I'm silly enough to be thinking about a set of Merlins or something more bassy as a possible alternative for more "fun" listening.

I have both and they are 2 different Customs.......One is designed for monitor, or reference like hearing ...More of your English Gentleman in tweed suit umbrella Oh hello ol chap....The other is more for fun bass impact  which is great with certain genres and especially Live recordings.....More like your American Wild West Cowboy, Rootin Tootin fun shootin at anything that moves while waiting for your next whisky to be slid down the bar. Kinda Like smashed in the face from John Wayne. Thems real vaaarmids.......

While I don't discredit his findings, I can say that the demo's really sound different from the actual customs.  Demo's will only give you an idea of how it'll sound but will never be a true actual representation of how they sound.  With that said, I feel that the differences between the Merlin and Miracle are pretty straight forward.  The Merlin has more sub-bass, mid bass, less mids, similar upper mids, and more sparkly highs.  Everyone hears things a bit differently but my frequency charts clearly state what I'm talking about it.

I guess the biggest difference between the two is how the music is presented to you.  The Miracle feels pretty balanced and the vocals shine through while the Merlin has a similar feel but the bass seems to take more of the forefront of the sound signature.  Although the Merlin has more bass impact, the Miracle isn't exactly a slouch in the bass department either. It has a nice sub bass presence that I never heard in any universal iem.  It's important to distinguish between mid bass and sub bass though because the Miracle doesn't have much mid bass.  It has a surprising amount of power but it wouldn't really suit the taste of a basshead at all.  The Miracle has an awesome sound signature and at times I feel like it's the perfect amount of bass.  However when I listen to bass heavy genre's, some times I just want to enjoy the hell out of it which is where the Merlin comes in.

With the Merlin, the bass is what strikes your attention first.  It goes as deep as the Miracle but is presented with more authority in both sub and mid bass.  It's a bass heavy iem but yet doesn't do it at the expense of everything else.  You still get great mids and a more sparkly treble.  It's really all preference and what you listen to but I feel it's easier to get lost in the music with the Merlin.  Does that mean I feel that the Merlin are better than the Miracle? yes in terms of musical enjoyment but no in terms of technical ability. 

It's kind of a stupid analogy but think of two brothers who study martial arts.  One is older and has been practicing for longer, he possesses a fine balance of strength and technique (Miracle) and other brother is younger, hasn't been practicing as long, has a good grasp of technique, but focuses more on pure strength (Merlin).  The two have the same master so they are similar in nature but yet go about their martial art in different ways.

I really hope that helps as this post isn't too long but I think it literally took me like an hour to write lol.  Let me know if you have anymore questions and I'll try my best to answer them.
