The closest you can get is the Prototype Merlin but that doesn't have as much bass as the final tuning one.  However it does have more bass than the Miracle. 

 

You can always just get a fiio e11 or a zo amp and boost the lows of the Miracle though.

I'll be having the CLAS sr71b combo.... Waiting on aesci on this one.
I would presume it would be easier for me to eq the miracle for bass, than to eq the Merlin for the mids/highs?

The real question is, will the miracle be able to produce a bass like the Merlin, via EQu?

And is there a risk of the EQed bass creeping up to the mids or actually drowning out some of everything else like EQ typically does?...

I don't think a balanced armature will ever sound like a dynamic driver so even when you boost the Miracles, it won't quite sound like the Merlin.  I'm sure it'll still sound good but there are both positives and negatives with the inherent designs of each type of driver. 

 

Exactly what I was thinking...
I'm having an internal battle between whether I would like mids/highs better, or the tear-jerking bass. I'm looking for the sparkle in treble; maybe I could EQ the Merlins with a slight boost in treble, though the mids would be too laid back then.


I'm also curious, Ben, as to how you're going to run the Miracles balanced if you're getting recessed plugs. I thought one could not make a custom cable if the earpiece has recessed jacks.

You would be surprised at how well the Miracle can tame a 'basshead' with its balance of bass quantity and bass quality.

 

We have a bunch of custom cables and manufacturers that have our socket connector overmoulds on file.  From pure Silver Balanced, to TWCU, it easy to find a custom cable which suits our recessed jacks :)

Probably. But for times when I'd like to listen to some of that good dub step after listening to my other genres with the LCD-2, I think something like the Merlin would be my best bet. The reason why I'm so reluctant is I don't want to be so underwhelmed in the mids/highs/clarity/detail, when I switch over from the LCD-2.

Thanks mate! It looks amazing! I would take some close up photos of them, but I haven't had a chance. The work is really first rate and has come up amazingly. Which is only appropriate given tool has been my favourite band for almost half my life... So it's a good tribute I think :D

I've got the Miracle and the Merlin(just arrived) and plan on doing some of these tests, especially once I get the Zo v2. But I've got an iPhone 4 with EQ, so will see if I can get Merlin bass out of the Miracle.

 

And what Matt said is correct, the Miracle's bass is outstanding. But I think Girls Generation is looking for a little more than they provide, EG: Merlin bass...

 

Hoping I can do some A/B's and spend some 'quality' time with them shortly.

Hello UM Miracle owners.

 

I am considering the UM Miracle, but I am a worried about the 15 dB peak I see in the frequency graphs around 5-7 kHz.

Some graphs does show how a headphone sounds - at least comparing two phones measured with the same equipment etc.

I know that graphs doesn't tell the whole story, but would like to hear those of you who has the Miracles if you notice that boost in the mentioned freq range.

It would be helpful if you actually use a sine wave sweep to check this.

Anyone here have problems shipping to UM Lab?

I just noticed it yesterday that there is no "st. or ave." on the address and according to UPS tracking they cannot find the street. 

 

oh dont say that, i just shipped my molds today!

Um too late lol...anyway heads up to you then.

 

My molds are already in ZhongShan, was out for delivery but had to go back to the warehouse because according to the tracking info they cannot locate the UM Lab. I've been communicating constantly with UPS and Stephen Guo regarding the issue. I also send an email at sales@uniquemelody.co. All this work to prevent my ears molds from being sent back to me and basically throwing away money for shipping.

oh suck.. pls tell him or someone to post instructions on how to resolve this on this thread
