I've demo'd the symbiote cable for a few weeks and it honestly sounds pretty nice with the Miracle.  The only thing about it is that the y split is so damn short that you'll either look like a gay cowboy wearing it from the front or some sort of battlestar gallactica reject if you wear it behind your head. 

That is purely my opinion and I've asked the owner on 2 to 3 separate occasions if he could change it for me.  I've yet to get any sort of response from him.

Honestly, I think the cable I've just tried out does a damn good job of maximising those 2 things. It's a silver-plated copper cable from Tralucent Audio. I think any silver or SPC cable should help to achieve what you're after. SPC will maintain better fullness in the bass in most cases.

You're welcome to my cable if you want (PM me) as I am going for copper instead. I like the smoother sound of the HD650s at the expense of some staging and imaging.

No, the workmanship is perfect. I think the mould was my issue. Not sure what went wrong, but on the right hand side, if I move my head around (particularly if I look down to read) it breaks the seal and I lose a large amount of isolation. That's on the audiologist (and just one of those things), not UM's fault I think.

I should add that my audiologist was really thorough and took a second impression of my left ear to be sure. It worked a treat, but the right one didn't. If only we'd known!

I have the same problem. In a airplane seat if I turn my head a certain way the right side also breaks the seal. I can eat and walk no prob. Hmmm......so this is not correct?

I hope not. Maybe I'm just lucky on my left side because I have a slightly sharper turn in the ear canal that keeps things sealed.

Awaiting a response from the UM Aus team. Thinking about it though, if I were a musician on stage, I wouldn't want the seal breaking every time I moved around so guessing it should be addressed.

Only trouble is that I can't even begin to imagine living another 5-6 weeks without my Miracles. I'm nearly in tears just thinking about it...

Straight from UM Australia:

Sorry to hear about your fitting woes.

Whilst it doesn't sound like a major issue, if it is bugging you, then definitely get it fixed up.  Whereby you are mostly happy and this is an odd occurrence, we'd recommend holding off.  We'll probably run with adding a couple more layers of clear acrylic to the portion of your tip that forms the seal.  This should help you maintain a good seal in most conditions.

We will however need to send your IEM's back to UMLab to have them carry out this work.  This process will take 4 to 6 weeks.

I'm trying them again now and can't seem to recreate the issue!? Maybe it's also a matter of how moist the ear canal is as this morning was right after a shower and while it was still cool.

I'll keep an "ear" on it and see how it goes as I've only had this problem a couple of times and the rest of the time's been sweet.

Agree. As fluid, moving objects we are probably hard to create a perfect seal in. Probably just a result of being human.

So far, so good for me this afternoon. I'll see how the train trip home goes.

It's also very tricky because everybody's ear is different. Maybe it's your particular ear canal shape that leads to the issue of breaking seal at that particular head position.
