Beats By Dre: The Secrets - Page 5

"Bieber Beats." This thread is terrible :s

Odds are good Bieber will not go away any time soon.  He will stick around for a long long time and Dre is still a marketing genius.  Give a few sets out for free and pay some stars to wear them once in a while, nobody else ever did that with headphones that I am aware of.  It caught on, therefore Dre is a genius and it doesnt matter who he directs his products to.  He is outselling everyone else combined and then some

if you dislike Mr. Bieber, this video will make you happy

Puberty is a big killer for male teen pop stars, the change in voice will change their music style dramatically, which usually upsets the fans.

The only case of one that actually survived is Justin Timberlake. I also remember the attempt of Bow Wow trying to make a comeback with his name change but failed pretty miserably.

^ thats cuz he decided to try to become an actor after the molestation rumor came around that ruined his career.

So is...well, we'll just say the name Clay Aiken. You get my drift. Haven't heard a peep out of him for over two years.

Never knew sony had the biggest chunk of the market o.o

That's another thing, pop stars are usually examined under a microscope by the press. If Bieber ever do anything that ruins his image, Monster will also be damaged by it.

I guess that's another plus for Dre as a mascot, since he's usually in the background where the press don't follow.

But that would be an amazing sight though, Bieber and Monster failing together. I think the audiophiles across the globe would party for seven days and seven nights.

But the neighbors wouldn't hear it, because we'd all be wearing headphones.

Seriously, I don't know what to think about Bieber Beats. I can see both sides of the argument, for success and failure. I think I would much rather Monster and other companies who rely on marketing fail because consumers finally figured out that the stuff was overpriced and overhyped, rather than because some celeb that was endorsing them went AWAL. Otherwise, somebody else would just come along and pick up the trend. We'll have Hannah Montana headphones next (we already have Hannah Montana Linux). I think it's a shame about Monster, as they've demonstrated they can produce some really nice, decent quality stuff (their IEMs are fairly highly regarded). I sometimes hope that people will eventually wise up to marketing, but I have to face the stark reality that this will likely never happen.

I think the release of the Bieber cans was timed so spoiled children could ask for them for Christmas.

As funny as that would be, I couldn't care less if they failed or not.  I don't listen to Bieber and I don't buy Monster products and people who do, I don't really associate with.  They'll either learn that terrible music/equipment is terrible, or just go on to the next fad or heavily marketed item.

Exactly what I thought.  People are overcomplicating things.  Yes, Monster is marketing towards tweens, so the kids demand that their parents buy them a pair for Christmas.  Purple ketchup anyone?

I'd rather wear AKG by Hello Kitty®    brand headgear, think they can make this happen?  Cuz'  Hello Kitty is hella legit.

Well, I draw the line somewhere before Hanna Montana Linux (that makes my head hurt), but I gotta tell you - the Beats Pro HPs aren't bad. As others have pointed out, they play well out of the box, look half way decent, and give someone not acquainted with HPs a taste of what good sound can be.

I suspect the audiophiles of 20 years from now will talk about Beats the way some guys today talk about Cerwin Vegas - the thing that first made them listen.

As for the article, I disagree with the poster who said it was written to impress the rubes. That's a trade magazine, and while it's certainly not immune from hype, the orientation is toward "what works."

Finally, I think Jimmy Iovine's heart is in the right place - he's a rich guy but he's also a rock and roll guy, and wants the young 'uns to get some of the same feel.

s.

edit - One more thing: I'll lay money we'll see Monster expand the Beats label out to more 'stars,' and after the brand is very, very well established they'll be simply 'beats.'

They can repackage the K701 again and call it the HK701. It'll be pink and has a bow on the side.

Beiber concert had pricing had a new twist.

As an ageing father of 2 still young girls, I dont care what they listen to at this point, I just want them into music. The rest will come!

So an email from corporate comes down to getting a very good price on some tickets. Oh ya, I sucked it up and got to be hero. But when ordering, one HAD to purchase a $40 fan club fee!!!!!!!

But I have to say, (I dont want to), the show was actually worth every penny. Big, Big, full show, all done up as a party. But to hear THAT many teen girls scream!

And that is why we make earplugs...
