I say unamp (don't have experience with amp) d1100 will have more impact, but the d2000 will sound better overall in my opinion.

How much would a portable amp increase the bass impact? If someone could give me an approximate % that would be awesome.

Of which headphone?  I can check the Denon or Shure if you're asking about those.

For the Denon D2000. Was kind of wondering in general as well, like an approximate guess at what % increase of sound quality or bass impact can be expected from a portable amp like a fiio e7

I found that the bass on the D2000s retained the same impact when amped (more or less), while tightening up considerably.  I can't put a percentage on such a subjective observation however.  Its noticeable though, quite noticeable.

So do any closed-back Audio Technica, Ultrasone, or Beyerdynamic have more bass impact with similar overall sound quality as the Denon D2000 or D1100?

Anyone know what Ultrasone or Audio Technica are comparable to the Beyer DT770 or Denon D2000.D1100 for bass impact??

doesn't need an amp, but the E7 is fine if you want to use one.

A amp made a huge difference with my D2K's and it is the only way I use them now.

BTW, unless you have auditioned every headphone mentioned how can you participate in that poll?

I've actually demoed most of the cans in the poll under various listening time but could never vote for the Denon D2000 due to the over-powering thumping mid-bass. Horses for courses and that and that is what opinion is all about
