I am helping someone choose an MP3 player. She is not an audiophile, just wants a decent player to replace her 1st gen shuffle (so she can see the songs, etc.). She wants to be able to listen to podcasts, and FM radio. She already has itunes so the ability to keep using that is actually a plus. I have only bought Sonys so don't know much about other players, especially the latest models, and I've never used iTunes or podcasts myself, so I have a few basic questions.
I was going to just recommend a nano but I see that they are now all touchscreens and the previous generation are very expensive on amazon. One option I am looking at is the Sansa Fuze, which seems to be a pretty good deal, but not sure if it supports podcasts or itunes. Also thinking about one of the basic Walkman models. I appreciate any help with any of these questions (one request is that if you recommend a specific player please state why, not just "Sansa FTW!", etc.).
- Can you use iTunes with non-Apple players, such as Sansas and Sonys?
- Do they all support podcasts, or is this a specific feature you have to look for?
- Does the Fuze NOT have dedicated volume adjustment? (having this is a plus)
- How is the durability of the Sansas? Wondering why they are so cheap.
- Any thoughts comparing the Sonys to the Sansas for these purposes, or any other model?
Thank for any help!
