So I had a pair of KSC-75s sitting around unused because I could never get used to the ear clips, and my cat just chewed the cord all to heck on my K81DJs.  I like the way the 75s sound and since I was going to recable the 81DJs as a result of my crazy cat anyway I figured what the hey, and started cutting up the phones to merge them into something usable...

This is the AKG speaker removed from the cup side of the headphones.  An exacto was used to remove the ring of glue that held in place.

This is what the cup looks like after the speaker is gone.  As you can see one was modded with a dremel tool to remove the speaker cup to make room for the 75 speaker.

This is the Koss speaker with the black speaker grill removed from the unit.  Obviously a front/back shot...

This is a close-up of the modified speaker mount from the AKGs...as you can see the mounting ring is removed and ground flush with the cup body.

I removed the grommets and slit them down the middle so I could re-use them without having to desolder and resolder my 75 speakers.  They work great.

You have to mod the outer shell of the AKGs by removing the rubber isolator and cutting the mounting nub off, otherwise the two halves of the speaker housing won't close on the Koss speaker cover (which is integrated into the cone)

Here are the speakers mounted in the modified cups.

This is where some might get squeamish and I almost backed out of the project at this point, but since I did major surgery to the cups anyway, there really wasn't any stopping.  The crook needs to be cut because the radius interferes with the Koss speaker housing and modifying the housing would probably have ruined the speaker.  I put the foam back there to help with the bass since the original KSC-75s were an "open" design, I didn't want the sound to bounce around behind the speaker and back into the cup...not sure if it helps any, but it sounds okay.

Speaker mounted and screwed in place...last step is the cover...you get the idea.
