I found the HD650 to be very similar in sound to the ESW9. In fact I sold the HD650 and am just as happy with the ESW9s at half the cost of the Sennheisers.

Seriously?
That is freekin' awesome!
Plus I'm not a big fan of the skull compression of the HD650 headband.

Amazon has at least a dozen more on sale for $150, refurbished from Audio-Technica: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0030O0Q2U/ref=dp_olp_refurbished?ie=UTF8&condition=refurbished&qid=1378477351&sr=8-1

I ordered mine on Tuesday and received them on Thursday, since I'm in Brooklyn and these were shipped from Queens.

Really liking them so far! I can see myself keeping these around for a very long time (which has only happened with a few headphones at this price-point).

The only thing I don't like is the cable. I didn't read through this entire thread, but are there any definitive instructions online as to how to take them apart for re-cabling?

It was amazing to me how close they sounded, but of course that was with my setup. Your experience might be different with a different source and/or amp.

The breakage issue has been fixed or not? If yes, how? I can't find any news that 100% confirm that it's fixed. Does warranty cover the breakage damage? Interested but that fragile thingy hold me. Currently have few choice in mind, Senn Momentum, Senn HD 25, T50P, DT 1350, Denon AH D-600 in mind. And W1000x too... Looking a portable all rounder headphone, doesn't necessarily portable version, as long easy to carry around whether inside a bag or casing. FA-003 too bulky for portable. And anyone compared this to T50P or DT 1350? Read some review but who knows others have different opinion.

How do they resolved that? New build or change material? Mind to show photo? And I wonder if (in case) breakage issue warranty cover.

Worried about the breakage issue...just get the spare piece from Audio Technica and if it ever breaks just replace it yourself.  That's what I did.

Do you know the Audio-Technica part number for the spare piece? Do the left and right require different pieces?

I believe the swivel/knuckle has a new part # 134407490 (same for both sides...mine had no "left" or "right" labeling).
They are $6.38 each.

Thanks. I own two ESW9's that I plan to keep for a long time. I'm thinking I should pick up a couple of those parts, just in case...

Guys, from FA-003 to ESW-9 is significant upgrade or not in term of sound?

Probably a downgrade.

I consider T50p, HD25, and DT1350 as upgrades. You should try one or two of them, but I think you should try ESW9 as well. It could end up being something special to you for all anyone knows.
Beware this hobby. evil_smiley.gif

I see... What make you think it's upgrade? Is there any tier etc? Or judge by ear? Too bad no nearest audio shop. I buy based on review. The only thing that I regret for my FA-003 is the sh*tty rubberized finished. Well, this hobby indeed dangerous...
