So it is suitable to be the center of my whole system and I would not need anything extra to play all my music AND mowvies, in whatever (popular) format they are?

that's why it's so popular.  it plays just about any format on any medium (it doesn't play apple lossless though).  I have it directly feeding my head amp and feeding an AVR.  I also have external DACs that cost more than the OPPO but don't normally find a reason to use them.  I know of people using one to feed a $4k headphone amp.

Thanks. I wanted to make sure this works well as an all-in-one source before purchasing.

The BDP-95 is better if you plan on using it as a stand alone unit for music but the BDP-93 is no slouch and a real bargain.

I easily stream most  music or video formats without any problems from my PC.

Since I'm still running XP  I was unable to configure Media Player for streaming so I installed a program called Mezzmo. Works like a charm.

A wired network connection works best but I manage to stream large 1080p files using the wireless USB dongle. Works perfectly but is a bit slower for REW and FF.

I have a BDP-95 and use it mostly for 2 ch music along with some video. I love it but wonder if Oppo will ever support apple lossless. Do you think it is just Oppo not feeling it's a big deal to support it, or do you think there might be more to it, like Apple Licensing and such?

Though annoying, I'm not sure that it's really a hit against OPPO.  Not many devices really play lossless (I didn't say all).  I have quite a few toys that can play audio files but non of them (non-apple) can play lossless.  It is my understanding (though I'm not sure) that the lossless format was never really openly given to developers until about 6 months ago - before that everyone relied on reverse engineering (lossless and 'regular' AAC are 2 very different types of files) so maybe it will be different on the next set of Oppo's.  Though the next OPPO's will have chimera (or how ever you spell it ) and probably have reduced resolution digital outs etc, so it wont even be close to worth the trade up.

Is it a good CD / DVD transport ?
