A few notes. The Woo 22 works best with a fully balanced source/DAC as well as the HD800 being cabled balanced. You can go with the WA6SE or WA2 if you're going single ended. Also, the SPL Auditor is sonically the same as the Phonitor. The Phonitor just as all the bells and whistles, knobs and meters. At twice the price. The B22 is an amazing solid state amp if you're willing to spend the cash. If you're seriously looking at the Leben then I guess budget isn't a huge issue? Don't forget the many DACs that are available too.

 

I was looking into the Lavry DA11 dac...?

And the leben cs300 is about the same price as the WA22...

Could be, but I'm pretty happy with the best headphone on the Swedish market ;) My journey has just begun, at least when it comes to equipment. Thats where the fun starts IMO. I think it would've felt pretty useless to have this kind of money and then just start with a not-so-good headphone with the HD 800 mids floating around in my head lol. :p 

BTW, I have heard the T1 and the AKG k701 also (among the higher end ones), T1 appeared to me a little tight (more controlled, maybe, you name it) and the k701 was to bright without soul, sorta like a huge, quality version of apples earbuds xD. Ok bad comparison but you get the picture, something was missing...
 

 


Very well stated. Part of the fun of this place is the journey...not just the destination. Are there any meets in your area that you could attend to try other headphones/amps/dacs? They are a great (and cheap way) to try out various combinations of gear and hear what is right for you.

There are not, sadly. The place where I bought the HD 800 is about 87 miles away, they have some special events at times but thats about it. I reaaaally hate this city, haha. :)
