I prompted them. They responded. They are making a replacement.
Proof?
I (Alex Hussein Osborn) told them I would give them a hug if they made a replacement. They said prepare to give hugs. OMG!
You are welcome.

cant wait to see what it looks like!
WWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Too bad I'll never be able to afford it.
Lol! This thread could be epic. Subscribed!
They said "hugs" so maybe sub $500? That isn't bad. Used around here it could be cheap(ish).
YES!!!!!
Not that I wouldn't still try to buy an original K1000. I do love my AKG. Maybe not Fitz level, but I like them a lot all the same.
This is exciting news. Finally, the need something to compete with all the other high end cans. Color me excited!
Thanks for the heads up, mralexosborn

(I'm facebook stupid so I couldn't gather anything from the link.)
I wouldn't get too excited, though, as I recall, the 701 (according to AKG back in the day) WAS the replacement for the K1K.
It'd be just nice if they started remanufacturing the K1Ks.
This should be interesting. The K-1000s don't really do anything for me personally with my tastes in music, though I'm still interested to hear a pair.
How much were the K1Ks before they were discontinued? Do you need a nuclear power plant to drive them?
They were around $500 I believe, and they are quite tough to drive. There are worse though.
This could be interesting. It's been an epic two years for the high-end headphone market. I'm sure AKG/Harman wants a piece of the pie now. And they're well aware of the competition, so they will have to pull out all the stops. No reason they can't do it.
This is going to be something for the books! Cant wait to see how they look!
Just in from AKG, "The K2000 designed in conjunction with Elton John comes in Hot Pink studded w/ genuine Cubic Zirconia!"
I think there will be a bundle offered w/ the Quincy Jones editions.
