Kobe Bryant Call of Duty Ad Controversy

As far as the commercial goes, it's a pretty damn good. Striking visuals, strong ties to the product, and a bit of controversy never hurt anyone.

As far as the controversy, hopeless bedwetting. COD:BO, with $650 million in sales in 5 days, is nothing if not mainstream. Most people with functioning brain cells can tell the difference between real world life and death combat, and a game. The only surprising bit is that the mainstream news media depiction of gaming hasn't caught up yet and remains unchanged since the D&D days.

Just the normal bad parents complaining because they can't teach their kids right from wrong themselves. Nothing to see here.

I think the evil 4 letter network should focus more on sports, and less on sensationalist journalism. Their call for Kobe to be fined by the league is outrageous - perhaps the commercial was in poor taste but a fine is a bit draconian. I wonder if they would make as big a deal if the commercial was from one of their sponsors, like EA.

They're talking about it as if its the only military combat FPS...

This is possibly the best game commercial ever and I don't even play FPS. It makes me want to go out and buy the game...bad.

The chef is simply the bomb, and bitching about Kobe in a commercial? Come on...doesn't anybody remember what happened in Colorado?

Don't want your kids to play it, don't get a console. It's pretty easy.

It has a PC version as well. But yeah, parents don't/can't control their kids so they want everybody else to fall in line. Sheesh. What a bunch of blame monkeys.

This is probably the least offensive thing Kobe has done.

I guess Jimmy Kimmel gets let off for not being popular enough.

Maybe it's all bs, maybe its not. I'd love to know what an Iraqi vet with PTSD thinks of it.

The OP is a two tour Iraq vet with PTSD.  ;)

Fair enough, and whats your take on it? I personally wouldn't want to comment on it because i get uneasy discussing things that might hit a little too close to home for some, thus my earlier response. If you really want to know my opinion then i'll state it, otherwise i don't think anyones opinion would be more relevant than yours.
