I didn't think of TEAC when I began searching for a dedicated CD player. My initial short list included Denon, Cambridge, Marantz, Onkyo. The Teac intrigued me, so I went for it. It is very...

They don't. Receivers are pure stereo. AV Receivers do have DAC's in them.

Thanks for clearing that up. Some people would be confused by that statement. Although some "stereo" receivers do as well. Anything that accepts a digital signal and converts that signal to analog has a dac in it. That's what a dac is."Digital Analog Converter". Now some devices are only that. All they do is the conversion which is why they are called dedicated dacs. Just because a device does more than one thing, you can't say it doesn't have a dac. My xbox have a dac. I might not be a very good one, but it does have one. I don't know why so many people say stuff like "it doesn't have a dac" when in fact it does.
Who are you replying to? Of course anything that converts digital to analogue has a DAC inside, but things like analogue pre-amps and stereo receivers don't have DAC's in them. Which is what I said.
