One reason why I don't enjoy living in Canada...

America:

Canada:

(This one doesn't even have free shipping!)

Thankfully I only live half an hour north of the border and have some friends on the other side.

Not to say that you can't get better deals, just seeing the cost difference makes me depressed.

Just get a cheaper HD555 and do the foam mod. Also that price is incorrect.

You're going to be even angrier, the HD555 is a simple mod away from being a 595.  The 555 are $68 right now on Amazon.

In all fairness though, it looks like the Canadian 595 price is through a third party, because Amazon doesn't even stock them right now.

Mhm, I wasn't actually planning on purchasing the headphones, I just saw the price differences and my jaw dropped.

While not as severe, price differences are pretty prominent throughout all headphones in Canada and the US.

I wish I had known about this mod for the 555's before I purchased the 595's a year ago though... I really thought

I had done my research!

Another thing that kind of irks me is the lack of places to listen to higher quality headphones near and in the Toronto area.

The 595's were the pair that appealed most to me at Bay Bloor Radio in Toronto, but they were also probably the most expensive cans there other than the Grado 325i's. Not exactly a very wide assortment. Not to mention the amount of sound that was going on around me, there are definitely better environments to listen to tunes.

O.K., here's the deal.  I'll trade you Sarah Palin and John Boner for bad heaphone prices and limited availability, any day of the friggin' week.

Sorry, I know I'm hijacking but WTH.

Overpriced headphones, limited availability, AND Justin Beiber?

Plus... Sarah Palin probably lives closer to me than she does to you (;

why not buy from the US? There's plenty of web stores and ebay members who ship to Canada. If you ask nicely you can avoid most of the duties costs. I bought my car's winter tyres from the US and it cost me $200 less than here. :D

Bieber is an international horror, doesn't really apply.

In my experience, most stores will not undervalue a package just so you can avoid taxes/brokerage.

You can however choose to broker packages yourself, so all you pay is taxes. It takes a bit of legwork/paperwork, but it saves a ton of money.

So we have to thank the Canucks for inflicting Beiber on the world.

And I actually like Palin.
