hd 650 Interconnect or placebo?

post #1 of 9
Thread Starter

Which Interconnect should I buy for my setup below.

Computer -> xonar stx -> cheap rca (<=$8) -> Lehmann BCL -> HD 650.

I was recomended by a friend to look at anti ic. I posted a thread in the wrong forum and I was also told that cables make no difference. I am confused on what to believe now.

I'd say your about set.

What dont you like about how your system sounds now? If you have money to burn (why not spend it more wisely then :p ) upgrade your DAC, amp, or (maybe) headphones.

Try something better in you system, live with it for a while and see if you can hear an improvement.  If not, then sell it and don't worry about it.  If you can hear the differences, for the better or worse, then you've found a new way to make subtle changes to your rig.  You've got nothing to lose.  Either you find cables an important part of the signal chain, or you learn their not.  Either way, you win.

I agree with nikongod. It sounds like you're in good shape.

If you want to tinker, buy a soldering iron. You can build your own gear and gain a deeper understanding of how everything works.

I had aftermarket cables on my HD-600 and HD-650. They did nothing. I found no difference with every IC or power cord I've tried, as well.

believe nothing... instead try it for yourself (I think Buddha said something similar)

people believe whatever they want to believe, or whatever their comfortable with, whether real or not it doesn't matter (imo)

if you've never tried other cables other than the ones you currently have, then I'd say to definitely try better cables. your gear is pretty good, so you should be able to hear differences with a better pair of IC's.

I'd recommend bidding on a pair of Antipodes Katipo, or if the bidding gets to high, The Bolder Company also make some decent IC's at reasonable prices.

ps: swapping a cheap pair of cables with another cheap pair doesn't make sense. better to keep the ones you have.

Rather than just "accept" it, try it.  No harm can come of it.

When did that become the wrong thing to do?
