Hey folks,

So i was looking for a good usb dac/headphone amplifier, my budget was not very high, i've read lots of reviews about these kinds of products on my price range and i've decided to go with Audinst HUD MX-1.

Before i was using Numark Omni Control audio interface as soundcard to feed AudioEngine A5 + Subwoofer and Sennheiser HD 595 and it did good, but i needed something with more impedance for the headphone since i want to upgrade to HD 650, and also i wanted something where i could control the volume of the line out.

Anyways i got Audinst HUD MX-1 last week and i've been testing it...
My first impressions were: a good usb dac with good detail and no destortion, but soon as i plugged the headphone it sounded really bad, there's almost no low mid/bass, and too much harsh on the highs, sounds really bad not at all linear/flat

I've tried this headphone with different sources and it never sounded so bad to my ears!
What should i do? I only see good reviews about this product, i'm affraid to return it and spend more money on a new one that sounds similiar... I also can change the opamps, i'm no expert, but how will the opamps affect the sound?

So what's your reccomendation people?
Should i return the device or try to change the opamps hoping i get more bass from the headphone out.

Thanks in advance for all the comments/answers to this question.

Regards!
