Out of curiousity, anyone know anything of replacing the hd in say, the ipod, the iriver, or the karma hd-based players? I know that they're really expensive now and to fiddle around would be too risky... but say in 5 years when they're cheap...

I auditioned the SRH-1840 straight out of the box, and was unsatisfied with the sound, so I decided to give them a period of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite differences...

I didn't think of TEAC when I began searching for a dedicated CD player. My initial short list included Denon, Cambridge, Marantz, Onkyo. The Teac intrigued me, so I went for it. It is very...

As of now the karma has a fairly unique sized hd, it will become more common next year I believe , The ipod & I think the iRiver have the more common yet newer sized hd's. Unlike the creative hd's which are run of the mill hd,s the others are not run of the mill as of yet. Give it time. In the meantime do not open your hd (unless it is a Creative unit) to upgrade as you will knacker any warranties & have no upgrade options as of now. In 5 years time your hd or flash will have oddles of space for next to nothing ($wise) & will be the size of a stamp.
Take care
