I have pretty much decided to go with the Audeze LCD2 planar magnetic headphones as my next purchase. I have decided to drive them with a good solid-state amp. I would also like for it to have some synergy with my other cans as well, such as the Sennheiser HD600, AKG K340, and AKG K701.

Between the Audio GD Phoenix, Headamp GS-1, Headroom Desktop, Meier Audio Concerto, and Violectric V200 which would you most recommend, especially for driving the Audeze LCD2 headphones.

Associated components will be a Marantz SA8001 and Marantz CD5001 cd players, Audioquest Black Mamba  and Signal Cable Silver Resolution interconnects.

I have a Headamp GS-1 on order [has been for almost 9 weeks], but I may cancel the order and go with something else.

Any comments would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much to everyone who votes and/or posts comments.

I haven't heard the others but I don't think you can really go wrong with the concerto.

I liked them out of the Phoenix, and really liked them out of my Dynahi. :)

I really need to hear a dynahi one day :(

Do you all think that I should I keeping waiting on the GS-1 from HeadAmp, or would you recommend canceling the order?

Thanks for your responses and votes so far!

The GS-1 is a very nice amp, especially with the nice features they have (pre-out, loop-out, multiple input).

im using the concerto, and i feel it matches with the lcd-2 well. you should look at the lcd-2 amp thread somewhere. you should get your answers from that thread

The only thing I can tell you is that used to own the GS-1 with stepped attenuatro and the V200 at the same time. I end up selling the GS-1 and kept the V200. IMO the V200 has a warmer and more musical presentation while the GS-1 is more detail and analytical.\In additin the V200 has the gain input switches that come very handy to match your source and the output desired.

Hi, Sachu,

First it was the LF and now the LG.

How come you seem to get to know, and infact listen to, these amps, even before they are launched. wink_face.gif

Seriously, have you had a chance to compare the LF with the soon to be released LG.

And what are your impressions

Thanks

The little David of the group is your common, inexpensive, T-amp.

The only requirement is that you have a balance cable with an adapter to four wire pigtail to connect to their speaker terminals.

Cheap to try. Amazing performance with the LCD-2. o2smile.gif

I just find the Cavalli sound works to my liking better than any other headphone amp manufacturer's products I have heard to date and that's a lot of amps.

Yes i have had the opportunity to compare both and it takes less than 5 seconds to realise that the LF is a couple of notches above the LG in terms of sheer sonic quality. The Liquid Fire IS the better amplifier.

The LG is no slouch and remains to date the best sounding SS amp I have heard. Much more to my liking than the GSX and the B22. Even though i have had the prototype for close to a year now, I and so was anyone else who listened to the rig, was blown away with how good the amp sounded when paired with a better source at the last Seattle meet at Bottlehead Headquarters. . An analog front end made me appreciate this amp a whole lot more and acknowledge what Vinyl can bring to the table.

I use the LG with my LCD-2 on a regular basis and quite happy with it. Though I have set my sights on owning an LF pretty soon for an office rig.
